Volunteers needed for the 2011 Canada Winter Games.

Archery Competition

Your organizing committee needs volunteers to help run the best Canadian Winters Games archery event possible. We need people to be scorers, tabulators and leader board operators. You do not need to know anything about these positions but some knowledge of the sport would be a help. We will be holding training sessions for those who require it so you will have the necessary information about the position you might be asked to fill. Step up and support you association in an endeavor which will bring archery into the public eye where archery should be, so more people can become aware of the sport of archery. You do not have to a great shooter or even in the sport, you might be a parent of an archer show them you want to help in any way you can.

Any person who thinks they might enjoy assisting in any way to run a first class event can get in touch with any member of the organizing committee or contact Robert C. Sheppard (robert.s@ns.sympatico.ca)

  Archers Association of Nova Scotia

The Association (AANS) was formed in 1967 and is the provincial sport organization governing archery in all its forms in the province of Nova Scotia. Purpose: To perpetuate, foster and direct the practice of archery in all its forms through: encouraging membership, adopting, interpreting, and endorsing the rules for practicing. Today's sport of archery has roots that are thousands of years old and in many cultures around the world. In olden days the bow was firstly a tool for harvesting game for food and secondly a weapon of war that resulted in the winning of many battles. As the bow became impracticable as a weapon, archery became a sport enjoyed by the rich, usually Lords and Kings. In some cultures, the bow is still used today as a tool for harvesting food. The sport continues to grow in popularity and is now active in over 100 countries in the world!! Due to the popularity of the sport, archers can now compete in events such as the Olympics, the World Championships, and many other international, national and provincial events, including 3-D archery. AANS would like to welcome you to our new website. Look around and enjoy.
