2010 Canadian Archery Championships
Nova Scotia
Nova Scotia is pleased to host the 2010 Canadian Archery Championships. We welcome
all athletes to our province in the spirit of competition and fellowship. We hope that you
enjoy your stay and experience our east-coast hospitality.
Nova Scotia sticks well out into the gulf stream of the eastern seaboard. The salt winds
have seeped into our hearts and souls for over 400 hundred years. Its sandy beaches and
rocky shores give our province the nick-name ?Canada?s Ocean playground?.
This is the home of Canada?s first permanent habitation and the port of entry for many
new immigrants. Many stories start and end here and our culture is as diverse as our
landscape. We are pleased to welcome Canadian archers back to our province.
Annapolis Valley
Chiefly an agricultural region, the Annapolis Valley is the Okanogan of the east. The
north and south mountains protect it from the ocean currents, making it warmer in the
summer and colder in the winter. Once a top producer of apples, the Valley is fast
becoming known for vineyards such as the Grand Pre Winery. From field and sea, we
have made a living from nature and are proud to share its bounty with you at the local
inns and restaurants of Wolfville, Kentville and New Minas.
Both French and English are spoken in this area of the province. Acadian dyke
technology still keeps out the world?s highest tides, dragging fertile land back from the
sea. Driven from our shores in 1755, these early French settlers returned to the western
end of the Valley where their culture is as strong ever.
Just as fine a destination as Halifax, the Annapolis Valley welcomes archers to our first
major shooting event.
3D Venue
The 3D event is hosted by the King?s Archer?s and the Annapolis Valley Gun Club.
Nestled against the south mountain, this is one of the regions finest shooting sport
facilities. Terrain includes tall pine forest, scrub fields and water holes. The newest 3D
course takes full advantage of the elevation of the area. Abundant with local wildlife,
archers better be sure their target is really foam!
