history and Halifax’s first Canada
Winter Games.
More than 2,700 athletes from across Canada will compete
in over 20 sports, attracting thousands of visitors, VIPs, officials and media.
History will unfold as new records are set, careers are launched, champions are
born, and medals are awarded.

SPORT LEADER - ARCHERY
The SPORT LEADER is responsible for ensuring that the sport technical operations at the sport field of play are maintained to the highest degree possible. This involves a commitment towards excellence in delivering sport competitions with a high level of officiating; precise and accurate timing and scoring; quick and accurate results; equipment that meets a national championship standard; and operational efficiency for the various functions associated with the delivery of the competitions.
The SPORT LEADER accomplishes this by;
Bringing together the local sport community with the Host Society, CGC and the National Sport Organizations to ensure excellence in technical standards at the Games.
Liaison with Sport Management Group and other Sport Division leads responsible for Equipment, Officials; Results; and Scheduling
Providing support to Sport Management Group and Venue Team with respect to sport venue location, layouts, and requirements
Developing planning documents
Representation at meetings
Communication and reporting as required
Supervision of Sport Organizing Committee (assistant sport leader, officials rep, equipment rep and scheduling and results rep) volunteers and liaison with host society staff
Good public relations on behalf of the Host Society
Implementation and execution of “Games-time” operations
Decommissioning and wrap up of the sport operations
Final written reports within 30 days of Closing Ceremonies.
Skills & Knowledge:

Excellent written and oral communication skills.·
Excellent planning and organizational skills.·
Ability to work effectively with volunteers and communicate in an appropriate interpersonal manner.·
Team player.·
Well-developed problem-solving skills.·
Ability to make decisions in an efficient and effective manner in stressful situations.·
Ability to facilitate SOC meetings in an efficient manner.Prerequisites:
·
Previous experience in provincial/territorial and/or national sport competitions.·
Proven management expertise.·
Working knowledge of the NSO of their respective sport.·
Well-established network within their respective sport community.Reports To:
Division Chair and Assistant Division Chair - Sport
Time Commitment:
·
Pre-Games organizational and planning meetings.·
Availability for monthly VTeam meetings with increasing frequency as Games near.·
Full availability for assigned events during Games time, including 1-2 days prior to Games for Field of Play set-up.·
Attendance at Sport Division meetings as required.·
Availability to attend Chef de Mission and Technical Advisors meetings.·
Availability 3-5 days post Games to complete Field of Play decommissioning.·
Post event Final Report as per Canada Games Council format due within one month of Games completion.
